Is GoFetch Mail for Newton Shipping?
GoFetch Mail 1.2.7 is available for download on the download page.
What are the major differences between NIE and Shell Access?
The shell version is much smaller than the NIE version, requires less heap than the NIE version and connects much faster than the NIE version. We recommend it for anyone that has shell access. Since it is smaller it runs much more effieciently on a model 120.
However some ISP's (Internet Service Providers) do not offer shell access. These providers typically provide a network connection via a protocol called PPP or SLIP. The NIE will allow you to connect to your ISP using PPP and SLIP, GoFetch mail will then use this connection to send/receive and browse your mail.
I am having trouble connecting to my ISP, what do I do?
Here are some simple things to try:
- Make sure to send a carrige return after you send the login name and password. Its the script with the backwards 'P'.
- The wait for string does not need to be complete "in:" will match "login:"
- Make sure your shell prompt is set correctly. Most ISPs use the '$'. Another popular prompt character is '>'.
- Contact your ISP and tell them about GoFetch! If they can give us a test account, and a technical contact we will be happy to fully test the configuration and put their setup information on our web site.
- Send us mail - put "Support: Connecting to [ISP name]" as the subject line - we'll be happy to help you out.
What kind of support do you have?
Online FAQ and unlimited e-mail support. The FAQ will be updated and much more useful in the near future. In the mean time, email support is available. Send support questions to GoFetch. For support question please put Support: [topic] in the subject line of the message.
